Terminal Servers

CLA-OIT's Windows and Linux terminal services allow you to run applications on remote servers. This gives you more computational power, access to applications not available on your computer, and the ability to work with sensitive data without having to store it locally.

Eligibility

CLA faculty, staff, and graduate students

What We Do

  • Provide secure access to a remote Windows computing environment.
  • Provide standard applications including Microsoft Office 2010, Internet Explorer 9, and Firefox 10. See full list for details.
  • Provide access to your Active Directory home, shared, and project folders.
  • Support printing to networked printers.
  • Consider requests to install other applications.

What We Don't Do

  • Provide ability to install additional applications.
  • Provide administrative access.
  • Support a Macintosh environment.

What You Need to Do

  • Avoid running multiple instances of memory or processor-intensive applications.
  • Use VPN when off campus.

  • Provide standard applications such as Firefox, OpenOffice, vi, and emacs. See full list for details.
  • Provide access to your Unix home directory and shared folders.

  • Provide ability to install additional applications.
  • Provide administrative access.

What You Need to Do

  • Avoid running multiple instances of memory or processor-intensive applications.
